10 Days and a Wake-up Call!

Time is starting to fly like an F-16 in full afterburn! I am looking forward to meeting with each of you and I hope we can build some new and lasting friendships!

C'ya out by the city limits sign!

Only 11 days until I leave!

I can't believe it's only 11 days until we leave for Vegas. I've got so much stuff to do! I've got to find shoes for my vintage vegas outfit too! Yikes!

Save Money and Buy Me Drinks

If you registered at the Luxor Hotel in the last month, you should check their website for the current rates. When I registered in the beginning of the month the lady who made my reservations told me to check their site to see if thier rates dropped. I checked last night and sure enough their rates were lower than what I was currently paying.

All you need to do is call them up and ask for the lower rate (be sure to have your confirmation number). Then find me at the conference and buy me a drink from all that money you save.

Monday Afternoon Meet-up Follow-up

Courtesy of Howie Mama Karen Larson:

The plan for the HOWIE meet-up is to meet at THE HOTEL LOUNGE at 4:00-6:00 just prior to the keynote on Monday. I look forward to seeing all the HOWIE'S!!

OH! Let's not forget that this will be a very special real-life Monday Happy Hour edition of SAW's Bar! Although SAW will not be able to join us, we can all raise a glass to
our favorite Howie bartender!

See you there!

Monday Afternoon Meet-up

This is the big one! It was last year at least. Just a chance to meet and greet your fellow Howies before heading to the opening keynote Monday night. I've heard that people want to meet at the Lounge, but I looked around a little bit and there are a few. So, I thought we'd hash it out here so no one is left out. Has anyone been there enough to know one from another, the one with the best location for those not staying at Mandalay Bay? I visited there on my last trip, but don't remember enough to say for sure.

Could be quite a few people...

Howie Howler!!!

Hi Everyone,

Tuesday night is the "free" night of the conference, and I was thinking it would be a great idea to get the gang together and head to The Bar in Times Square at New York, New York. I went here on a trip with work a couple of years ago, and it was caraaaaaazyyy! And the place was still rockin' when I was there last October. Believe me when I tell you it will be a fantastic time. I don't recommend riding the roller coaster after you've spent a couple of hours there, though. Plus, it's just a tram ride and a bridge away from Mandalay Bay (if you've never been to Vegas, you'll soon understand why you want to conserve as many steps as you can).

Your thoughts?

Are you too late?

The How Conference is sold out! You can still get on the waiting list, though.

Advice from a Howie

Since I don't have permission from either one of them, I'll just link to the HOW Conference Blog. Scroll down to the entry on April 6 from Steve Gordon about how to work the room.

Great idea Dave!!

I love the idea of getting to know everyone better beforehand, especially since I'll be going alone.

Hi, I'm Sara, first time conference goer, and I still need to print business cards.

Here is the official Howie Badge for the 2006 Conference, graciously provided by Von Glitschka for our enjoyment.

Welcome, Welcome All!

Hello Howies!

This here blog is intended as a central site for Howies to talk about plans for and reviews of the 2006 How Design Conference in Las Vegas. So whether you want to hook up with everyone or just one person, check and post here. Why, even if you're not going, feel free to post here, just try to keep the subject matter related to the conference and social events (like someone's wedding) surrounding the conference. Looking for a place to crash? Want to share session schedules, photos etc.? Post here. Most of all have fun.

How do you post, you ask? Send me an email. eighthave at gmail dot com, and I'll hook you up. I know this is just a template right now, but I will get something appropriate up very soon.

I look forward to seeing you there!
